About the Artist

Julia Contacessi

Julia Contacessi (Con-ta-chess-e) is a contemporary abstract artist known for her large-scale abstracts and fluid compositions. Inspired by the ever-changing beauty of the coast, her work blends organic movement with structured design, creating paintings that evoke both emotion and tranquility.

A Pratt Institute graduate, Julia earned her BFA with honors and has been immersed in the art world ever since. She launched her own art business in 2013, driven by a deep passion for hands-on creation.

For Julia, painting is a meditative practice—quieting the noise, embracing the moment, and allowing intuition to guide each brushstroke. Her collection includes original paintings and most recently surface design, all designed to transform interiors with a sense of effortless sophistication.
